EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES
Equal opportunities
SMG Languages operates in accordance with its internal policy on equal opportunities, which applies across all the group’s offices.
In general, this policy emphasises the following principles, in particular in cases where SMG operates in contexts and regions affected by discrimination on the grounds of gender, age, ethnicity, religion or disability:
- Recruitment procedures and criteria for the selection of staff do not permit discrimination between candidates for any position, whether operational or managerial.
- There are no requirements relating to gender, age, ethnicity, religion or disability for employment at SMG. Selection is based exclusively on the candidates’ skills and abilities.
- Equal opportunities are guaranteed to all employees and suppliers. No form of discrimination is permitted in the workplace, and career progression is based on professional skills.
- SMG is attentive to the needs of parents. In this regard, SMG complies with specific local legal provisions and guarantees job security for staff on maternity or parental leave, employing temporary replacements to cover the period. Flexible working hours may also be arranged to support staff with young children.
- Staff and suppliers may report any instances of discrimination to their trade union representatives or to the health and safety representative appointed by the staff themselves.
- The Global HR Department team and the employee safety representatives ensure that these principles are consistently upheld. To this end, every December, each SMG office conducts an equal opportunities review, the results of which are reported in the SMG Managing Director’s Annual Report.
